Seven Basic Safety Rules: MSD Inc.’s Commitment to “Safety Always”

At MSD Inc., “Safety Always” is more than a motto—it’s a commitment that defines how we operate, every day, in every aspect of our work. Safety isn’t a box to check; it’s woven into the fabric of our culture. We believe that providing quality service is intrinsically tied to maintaining the highest safety standards. Our approach to safety starts from the top-down, with ownership setting a clear precedent for safety above all else. This means that every team member is trained rigorously and regularly in the latest safety protocols. We invest in cutting-edge safety equipment and continuous training.

Here are the seven basic safety rules that form the backbone of our safety culture:

1. Prioritize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Always use the appropriate PPE for the job at hand. This includes helmets, gloves, safety glasses, and other necessary gear. Our commitment to safety is demonstrated by our investment in high-quality PPE for all employees.

2. Follow Safety Protocols Rigorously

Every task has a set of safety protocols that must be followed to the letter. These protocols are designed to minimize risk and protect everyone involved. Regular training ensures that every team member is up-to-date with the latest procedures.

3. Report Hazards Immediately

If you see something, say something. Reporting potential hazards immediately can prevent accidents before they happen. Our open-door policy ensures that employees feel comfortable bringing any safety concerns to management.

4. Maintain a Clean Workspace

A tidy workspace is a safe workspace. Keeping your area clean and free of unnecessary clutter reduces the risk of accidents. This practice is part of our daily routine and is emphasized in our safety training.

5. Use Tools and Machinery Properly

Always use tools and machinery as intended. Misuse can lead to accidents and injuries. Our comprehensive training programs ensure that all employees are proficient in the proper use of equipment.

6. Stay Informed and Trained

Continuous education is key to maintaining safety. Regular training sessions keep our team informed about the latest safety standards and practices. Our investment in ongoing training reflects our dedication to safety.

7. Promote a Safety-First Culture

Safety is a shared responsibility. Encouraging a culture where safety is prioritized helps ensure that everyone looks out for each other. At MSD Inc., we believe that a strong safety culture is the foundation of our success.

By adhering to these seven basic safety rules, MSD Inc. maintains a workplace where safety is paramount. Our dedication to “Safety Always” not only protects our team but also ensures that we deliver the highest quality service to our clients. Remember, safety is not just a policy—it’s a way of life at MSD Inc.

WPAFB Sensors Lab

Wright-Patt Air Force Base sought contractors to renovate and add onto the Sensors Lab. The HVAC portion of the project was over $13 million.

  • MSD served as the Design Assist Contractor in conjunction with Heapy Engineering for this project. In collaborating with General Contractor, Butt Construction, MSD provided Design Assist solutions for the following:
    • A large, anechoic chamber
    • An outdoor range
    • Multiple, Class-100 clean rooms
    • A three-story office building addition with DCID 6-9 requirements on many of the rooms

WPAFB Chilled Water System

The chilled water system at a high-security building on the Air Force Base was undersized and unable to keep up with demand. The facility could not operate without chilled water due to the amount of information servers in the building, and the general nature of the building itself. The entire upgrade project would need to be completed with minimal shut down time at the building. HVAC portion of this project was over $3 million.

  • MSD worked in collaboration with Diaz Construction to complete the system upgrades on time and on budget with minimal shutdowns or disruption to the facility operations.

LJB, Inc.
