Our Capabilities

Material Options
  • Aluminum: A light-weight and corrosion-resistant metal that is often used in ductwork and fittings.
  • Galvanized: A material that has been coated with a layer of zinc to prevent rust and corrosion.
  • Paint Grip: A type of material that has been chemically cleaned and primed to accept paint.
  • PVS: A type of coating that is applied to the surface of the material to provide a more durable and resistant finish.
  • Pre-painted Steel: Steel that has been coated with paint before it is used in the manufacturing process.
  • Stainless Steel: A type of steel that contains chromium, which gives it its resistance to rust and corrosion.
Available Gauges
  • 26 GA. Through 16 GA: The thickness of the material, measured in gauge.
Longitudinal Seam Options
  • Companion Angle: A type of joint created by attaching an angle piece to edges of the material.
  • Pittsburgh Lock- sealed or unsealed: A type of seam created by rolling the edges of the material together, with or without sealant.
  • Pocket Lock: A type of joint that is created by fitting one edge of the material into a pocket on the other edge.
  • Raw Edge Flange: A type of joint that is created by attaching a flange to the raw edge of the material.
  • Slips and Drive: A joint that is created by slipping the edges of the material together & fastening them in place.
  • Snap Lock- sealed or unsealed: A type of seam that is created by snapping the edges of the material together, with or without sealant.
  • T.D.C: A type of joint that is created by fitting two edges of the material together and securing them with fasteners.
  • Weld Flange: A type of joint that is created by welding a flange to the edges of the material.
  • Welded: A type of seam that is created by welding the edges of the material together.

Construction Standards

SMACNA: Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors’ National Association, provides standard guidelines for ductwork and fittings construction that is utilized as our means of quality control standards.

Other Options
  • Insulation Nosing: A type of insulation that can be added to the edges of the ductwork and fittings to improve energy efficiency.
  • Liner Pin Spacing: The spacing of the pins that hold the liner in place.
  • Liners 1/2″, 1″, 2″: Insulating materials that can be added to the interior of the ductwork and fittings to improve energy efficiency.
  • Material Releases: Material is released and manufactured and readily available to accommodate our clients’ schedules.
  • Shipped Knocked Down: The ductwork and fittings can be shipped in pieces and assembled on site.
  • Single Turning Vanes: Angled elements that can be added to the interior of ductwork to improve airflow.

WPAFB Sensors Lab

Wright-Patt Air Force Base sought contractors to renovate and add onto the Sensors Lab. The HVAC portion of the project was over $13 million.

  • MSD served as the Design Assist Contractor in conjunction with Heapy Engineering for this project. In collaborating with General Contractor, Butt Construction, MSD provided Design Assist solutions for the following:
    • A large, anechoic chamber
    • An outdoor range
    • Multiple, Class-100 clean rooms
    • A three-story office building addition with DCID 6-9 requirements on many of the rooms

WPAFB Chilled Water System

The chilled water system at a high-security building on the Air Force Base was undersized and unable to keep up with demand. The facility could not operate without chilled water due to the amount of information servers in the building, and the general nature of the building itself. The entire upgrade project would need to be completed with minimal shut down time at the building. HVAC portion of this project was over $3 million.

  • MSD worked in collaboration with Diaz Construction to complete the system upgrades on time and on budget with minimal shutdowns or disruption to the facility operations.

LJB, Inc.

LJB, Inc. was renovating their Miamisburg, OH office and wanted to incorporate energy-saving upgrades.

  • MSD provided Design Build services in tandem with Greensleeves Energy Solutions, a specialist in geothermal systems.
  • MSD and Greensleeves installed a new geothermal HVAC system with open and closed loops. In addition, MSD design and installed the plumbing portion of the renovation.
